Anti-Harassment Policy

Anti-Harassment Policy

We know that a home is perhaps the most emotive purchase many people will make in throughout their life and whilst we strive to deliver a high quality product and service there will inevitably be occasion for dissatisfaction.  Our commitment has always been to work with our buyers to resolve any valid issues in a timely manner.  Our homebuyer’s benefit from various rights and protections under the Consumer Code and new home warranty where any potential claims would be assessed against the warranty provider’s Technical Manual that was in force at the time the home was constructed; at no point should our relationship have to deteriorate to a point where our staff feel threatened or abused.

As with all employers we have a duty of care to our staff and associates to protect them from physical and emotional / mental harm, in doing so we are required to take reasonable steps to ensure our staff are kept safe from foreseeable risk.  As such Oakmere have adopted a zero tolerance stance against threatening or abusive language and/or physical actions perpetrated against our staff and associates.

Should an incident occur it will be documented and evidence retained on file, a director of the business will review the evidence and the company may then elect to cease all communication with the offender or put special measures in place.  If this decision is made then you will be formally notified of the special conditions to ongoing communication, or in cases where all contact is to be ceased we will take appropriate action,  in some cases we may need to refer to local law enforcement or the civil courts.

The following is a non-exhaustive list of abusive behaviour we will not tolerate;

  • Shouting
  • Using foul and abusive language
  • Intimidation / making threats
  • Making sexual advances
  • Physical assault
  • Discrimination on the grounds of race, gender, sexual orientation or any other protected characteristic
  • Persistent harassment i.e. bombarding by text/email/telephone/in person visits
  • Preventing our team from performing their duties or accessing their place of work
